An update! And it's only been 9 months instead of 2 years!

World Cup started today and watched both the Mexico/South Africa game and the South Korea/Czechia game. It's a great life that I've been to 3/4 of those countries and the games were great too. Got a fun birthday party planned for tomorrow to watch the US game against Paraguay and the World Cup is always one of my favorite sporting events to watch.

And the NBA Finals have been fantastic too, with last nights game being an all time classic with the greatest comeback in Finals history. Even though I live in Austin I don't really have any affinity to the Spurs (probably due to being a Mavs fan growing up) so I kind of want the Knicks to win? But it's pretty great because I have a preference but I don't really care who actually wins so I just get to enjoy a great game. And lat's nights 29 point comeback was an amazing game!

And went to Blues on the Green for the first time since Covid since they kept having it while we were out of town but this year it actually worked out! I love the summer!

Olivia has a new album and single out tonight as well so that's been fun, and two of my all time favorite artists - Tove Lo and Stromae - have a new song out tonight as well so that's been amazing!

Went to Let's Go Fest last weekend which was super fun and got to see Matt and Kim who had their first show in almost 3 years and were as amazing as ever. Plus AJR, Fits and the Tantrums, Natasha Bedingfield, Lovejoy, Judah and the Lion, and some up and coming bands. It was such a fantastic lineup which is why used the points to go, and Baltimore is actually pretty great? Great mornings too!

Got a lot planned this summer with more trips to Dallas to maybe see England play in the World Cup, a massive trip to Asia in July, and a bunch more trips in the 2nd half of the year. Life's good and maybe the next update won't be so long either.

Figured it's time for another update after almost 3 years.

Life is really great all in all. A lot's still the same as the last update but just more years down the road. Zepbound is a freaking miracle drug, got to do an incredible amount of travel all over the world the last few years, and still have a fantastic wife and kids who are now in high school and absolutely thriving. It's a good life.

But somehow Trump got re-elected so it all kind of puts on a damper on things in general. Hopefully things will be better by the next update.

Andor, Poker Face, and The Rehearsal have been favorites since the last update. And wow, I just realized that I didn't even play guitar when I last made a post but now I'm fairly "okay" at it? Turns out picking up a musical instrument for the first time in your life at the age of 40 is a really great idea! I totally get why people always talk about how there's a relationship between math (which I always loved) and music and learning music theory has been so much fun as a hobby. I wonder where I'll be next time I do an update.

I kind of can't believe I've only done 4 updates in the last 7 years. Kind of wild how that happens as you get older and life changes.

Been a while!

I wouldn't have thought that the year I finally caught (an extremely mild case) Covid would be one of the best years of my life, but that's how things have turned out. Things are mostly back to normal by this point and so did a whole lot of travel and concerts and also finally did our in-person wedding celebration! Bought my first house last year too and that whole process was the second worst experience of my life besides my divorce from a Borderline! The last few years have definitely taught me not take things for granted because you never know when the next thing is going to just upend everything.

A Trump is no longer president! We never did have a nuclear war so he cleared my extremely low bar.

By far the worst part of being an adult is figuring out and shopping for insurance.

I love Wordle.

Time for the once a year update!

I'm married!!! Due to coronavirus we got married in our backyard and broadcast it on Zoom, but it was a really amazing day. I've been dating Jeni almost 3 years and we had a whole huge wedding planned for the end of May which all got pushed out in March due to our friend COVID-19. We're hoping to get to celebrate in person next year, but didn't want to delay the marriage part for another year so decided to elope in the backyard. It was a great ceremony with lots of crying and then did a virtual reception with cake and champagne and an hour long dance party with everyone dancing around in their living rooms with us on Zoom. It was great! And yep, it's too that Englishwoman I mentioned 2 posts and 2 years ago.

It also means I'm officially legally a step-dad to two awesome school aged kids. I never expected to become a parent but life happens sometimes! They're great and so kind, fun, and absolutely hilarious and we all get along incredibly well. It's been awesome!

And I can't do an update without talking about coronavirus and how that's utterly messed up so many people's plans and killed so many. I've been working from home since March and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. Thankfully it hasn't really affected me or our family. One of my friends in NYC did catch it though, and while she's better now, she said it was super miserable. I still don't get why people think this is all just going to magically go away, and aren't wearing masks or doing even basic precautions to prevent the spread. It's why I think if something like WWII happened today we'd definitely lose because we can't even focus on something for 3 months, much less 4 years. So if we end up killing millions more people than died in all our wars, it just gets a big ::shrug:: from the general population.

And of course the Black Lives Matter protests have exploded across the country and hopefully this time it'll actually make a real difference. The attacks on peaceful protesters by the police has been horrific and maybe all the cell phone cameras capturing police grossly abusing their power will be the catalyst for change. We'll see.

Also Donald "Just drink the bleach" Trump is still an appallingly awful person. But we still haven't had nuclear Armageddon, yet, so he's still beating the (incredibly low) bar.
