Yesterday at Busch Gardens was awsome. I think we should do that every friday.
I took the SAT II this
morning at a bright and early 8 AM. I took Writing, Chemistry, and Math IIC. I think I did great on
the math, ok in the writing, and terrible on the Chemistry. So it goes I guess.
On a brighter note, I got official confirmation that I was accepted into the University of Florida today. I already knew I was a shoe-in, but it's
nice to have confirmation.
I went to Gameworks today to play some more Dance Dance
Revolution. They are still using the old 1.5 US mix instead of the new US Mix. : ( It was fun
though, and I found out that girls can play for free on Thursday nights. Now if only I were a
girl... : )
The International Space Station should be easily
visable to the naked eye now, so keep track of it with NASA.
They've also made a chart to
find the best times for your city to look for it. NASA is awesome!
The Smashing Pumpkins last concert
was last night (Saturday). Tis a sad sad day.
I'm done with my 5 page research paper on Texas v
Johnson. Woo Hoo!
A new small
planet was discovered recently. Some of the stuff we find in the solar system is pretty
suprising at times. Who knows what might be hiding in the long reaches of space?
The winners in the AOL CD contest that I had
wrote about a couple of months ago were finally announced. It's amazing what you can do with an AOL
CD!
Well, for the last 4 days my site has been totally inaccessable due to a "severe problem with one of
[my hosters] hosting servers". So it goes I guess. I apologize for everyone who was severally
inconvinced by my site being down (yea, all 2 of yall) and well, I'm back!
I went to Islands of Adventure yesterday to play some DDR, and I got to see the best scorer I've
ever seen play. He owns the records for both singles and doubles on the IOA machine, and he's
freakin' awesome! I also took a chance at Castrosphoic Paranoia, and all I can say about that is
"All the arrows.....all those arrows...." Needless to say, I totally failed it.
It looks like life in the International Space Station is not so great in this CNN
article. I sorta feel sorry for those astronaughts. It also makes you wonder how well future
crews on trips to Mars and farther will do, since they will have to be together even longer.
And this election
thing keeps getting stranger everyday. If the US was a third world country, we'd be in civil war
right now. Thank god we havent' reached that point....at least not yet.
My Computer Science teacher/book showed once again their idiocracy by proclaiming that choosing a
programming language is not part of the programming process. The sad thing is
that I'm probally the only one who reliezed that that statement was wrong. All
well, at least the course is a super easy A.
So that's why the Iridium satellites were kept in orbit, there was a 1 in 250 chance
that debris from burn-up it would hit someone. I guess that Yahoo.com
commercial about falling satellites and pillows wasn't that far off...
Having 80 degree weather in mid Decemeber is just plain weird to me. Florida sure has its advantages
at times.
The presidential election was finally decided last night with a Supreme Court
ruling that said the recounts were unfair. Gore is expected to concede tonight, and Bush
will become the official president-elect.
My new favorite song of the moment is ATC - Around the World. Download it
now!
Check out this weird and wacky game: Goodnight Mr. Snoozleberg. It's strangly
addicting.
The 2.2.18 Linux kernel
was released on Monday.
I love semester tests. You spend about 30 minutes to an hour taking a fairly easy test, than you get
out of school about 5 hours early. I think we should do these things more often : )
Wanna know what the first email sent consisted of? Something like QWERTYIOP.
The mp3 list is updated.
I was at Disney again yesterday. They have all their
holiday stuff out in full force. They have some awesome talent too. I spent about 2 hours in line
just to listen to a choir sing for about 45 minutes, and it was definitly worth it. Disney definitly
knows how to treat it's guests to first class entertainment.
I also finally went to Sea World. I already had had a
pass for there for over a year, but the rest of my family didn't. So we got a Florida Fun Pass; $42
gets you in all year. Not to bad of a deal : ). Kraken is awesome, especially in the front. We only
spent like an hour there, so we still have a lot of the park to explore.
There might be water under the
surface of a Jupiterian moon. It'd be really neat if there was, as it would be a good sign that
life could exist in places other than Earth.
Holy Frijoles! I just discovered I passed 4,000 hits! I'd like to thank all the little people who
made this possible, such as Bob the Pelican. Thanks Bob! I still can't belive how many
people I've sucker^H^H^H^Hconvinced to come here. Something must be in the water.
Well I just got done talking a very hard English Literature test. It delt with analyzing pieces of
literature for their literary techniques. I don't think I did all that well on it, but well enough
to get an A.
One more day and two more tests and then the first semester of my final year of high school is
over.
George W. Bush is now officially the
president-elect. And right before an economic downturn too. Just watch the liberals say that
Bush is the sole cause of a recessionary economy.
The Semester is over! HOORAY!
The Travel Channel is going to be showing a bunch of rollercoaster
shows this evening starting at 8 PM Eastern. If you love rollercoasters, this is
your week because there are a ton of shows on. Check your listings, and I'll
keep my site updated with whatever is showing on a particular day.
ABC News.com redesigned their site over the weekend. I don't
like the new look. But then again, I don't like their sensationalist reporting either.
I think I'm getting a slight cold. Runny noses are horrible.
I went to DisneyQuest yesterday for about
12 hours. Needless to say it was a lot of fun. They have several really cool interactive Disney-only
rides, like place to create your own rollercoaster and then get in a simulator to ride it. And of
course, you can go upside down, so most of our coaster consisted of loops and barral rolls. They
also had a ton of free arcade games too, like Top Skater, Marvel vs. Capcom, and that Pod Racer
game. And they had a whole room full of classic arcade games like Donkey Kong, Astroids, Gauntlet,
and Millipede. So for $27, it's all you can play till Midnight.
Bush has finally resigned as
Texas Governor since he is going to be the president. The article also mentions more Cabinet posts
that Bush has made. It's stupid how the Democrats are wanting Democrats to be some of the Cabinet
members, as a president would want a Cabinet that shares his same views and policys, not a Cabinet
that would fight him at every turn. The next 4 years are going to be horrible in politics.
Watch out for Kris on Christmas
day. Just passing the info along to perhaps save someone from having a bad holiday. And to take this
time to remind everyone that by using Linux, I never have to worry about things like this virus.
Check out some new DDR videos (Update: Page doesn't exist anymore) that were
taken in the UK. I also went to Islands of Adventure today, and played some more DDR.
Just about everyone who plays in Orlando was out there today, so it was pretty crowded, but
still a lot of fun.
For some roller coaster news, Six Flags has a video of Six Flags Magic Mountain's two
new coasters that it'll be building over the next year. You can also read the related press release. One of the
coasters, X, is really cool since it'll be using some brand new technology that will let the seats
be free moving in the direction perpendicular to the track. The seats are positioned to be over open
air, so that they can move freely through 360 degrees. Also, Disney California Adventure (DCA) will be opening sometime fairly soon. It is
planned to be Disney's "thrill" park and will have a couple of coasters to start out with.
Re-live a year of Linux.
It doesn't feel like Christmas. It's just way too warm in Florida.
Get Dance Dance Revolution for your computer.. You use the arrow keys for the
steps. It's not very fun that way, but it is good as a learning tool to practice the steps. And it
might make DDR a little clearer to those of yall who don't have the oppurtunity to play it.
Consumer rights are fixing to be squashed once again with news that cable companies
want to use an encryption scheme to prevent people from taping anything they don't want them to on
their HDTV's. The link also has some info on copy protected hard drives that are due to be out next
year.
Egghead.com was cracked, and the crackers stole 3.5 million credit card
numbers. So if you've bought anything from them, you might want to check your credit card
statement more closely than usual. It's stuff like this that scares the average Joe from using
online shopping, even though millions of other people have used online shopping with no problems at
all.
One more day...just one more day.
There are a ton of rollercoaster
shows on tonight on TLC. They start at 5 PM Eastern, and run all to 3 AM Eastern.
Check out some really wierd keyboards that you
will be able to get in the future. And people think the MS split key natural keyboard is wierd...
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!
My Christmas has been OK so far. I got a Star Wars Calender, Sanctus Instrumental CD, mounting case,
and a $100. I also convinced my parents to get me a TI Calculator Graph-link and some colored TI Calc cover
cases, so they'll be here in 2 to 5 days. And tomorrow I'm going to try at go to Best Buy and
pick up the Beatles: 1 album. Oh, and I also got a lot of
candy :)
Mix 100.7, a local radio station, is playing 36 hours of non-stop
Christmas music until midnight tonight, so if you want some streaming Christmas, just go
there.
Don't forget about the eclipse
today.
Amarillo, TX, the place I used to live, is currently being buried under a huge snowstorm. My family
was supposed to go there tomorrow to visit family, but it's been cancelled since the next flight
they could possibly get would be Sunday. My uncle took some pictures of the snow, which I've put here and here.
I really need a haircut. I think it's been about 2 and a half months since my last one, and
I'm looking VERY hairy.
Headline News is doing a really cool special on space as part of a celebration of
2001: A Space Oddessy. Look at the
listings and turn on the TV to Headline News to watch the segments. I can't wait for the day
whenever the average person can go up into space.
I've added some pictures of my computer, so check them out if
you're interested.
Amarillo ended up with 20" of
snow, which is a whole lot for that area; the most since 1936. They'll be digging themselves
out of that for quite a while.
Austrialia had an interesting
night. Apparently a metor fell through the sky causing some sonic booms and grass fires. Some
thought it might have been the MIR space station crashing to earth at
first.
One of my readers has emailed about his website, RedColony.com. The site talks about colonizing Mars and the
troubles and hardships that would involve doing that. It's a really interesting site, and discusses
what I hope will come true in the coming decades. I believe that before I die, we will have landed a
man on Mars.
Going to Gameworks tonight. I have a pretty good Brilliant 2 U routine I'm going to try out.
The US Census results were announced
today. CNN has a story about it. There are
now 281,421,906 people living in the United States. Florida has almost 16 million.
Who would have thought it. A game companies is putting out two brand new games for the Sega CD. An
intereview with the developers can be found here. If you dont'
remember, the Sega CD is an add-on to the Sega Genises. Before you know, someone might start making
a new game for the NES again :)
Wow, history was made tonight. MTV was actually playing full length
music videos in prime time!!!! I'm not sure if that has ever happened or not before. Usually they
just play crappy TV shows or halves of music videos interjected with ugly screaming girls. But no,
today they actually decided to play music! Of course, it wasn't as good as it seemed since half
the video's weren't really "music" (cough*rap*cough) but I'll take what I can get. And believe it
or not, they actually played a Beatles music video.......and labeled it as "new". That's MTV for
yea.
Gamespot did a near article on the 15 most influential PC
games. Lots of nifty games there, and a good article.
Sign of the Apocolypse #3433343: Hillary Clinton was polled to be the most admired Woman in
America. Now this truly scares me. I am ashamed to be an American.
Wow, I have a busy weekend. Today I'm going to Islands of Adventure/Universal Studios. Then tomorrow
I'm going to Epcot to celebreate New Years; gonna party with Mickey : ). It's going to be pretty
cold too (for Florida), with highs only in the lower 50's and wind chills even lower. Anyways, don't
expect updates tomorrow (the 31st).
Food Network is running an Iron
Chief marathon starting on the "stroke of midnight New Year's Eve", whenever the heck that is.
I'm assuimg it means all New Years Day. If you've never seen the show that makes cooking
interesting, then you need to check it out on Food Network. Also on the subject of marathons, Disney
is showing 8 of it's made-for-TV movies, so if you like that kind of stuff, you might want to check
that out. I think it starts Sunday, but I'm not sure.
Finally I want to wish everyone a Happy New Years! Pink is sorta New Yearish right? Don't drink too
much, and definitly don't drink and drive. Make sure you check
out Google's New Years banner too. And I'd like to remind you that
this is the real start of the new
millennium is 2001, so party like it! : )
