Yesterday marked the 3rd year anniversary
of when I finally got to play on a DDR machine. It's still as addicting as ever, and with a new home version coming out in
October, it's still going strong here in the US. If you haven't tried it yet, do it for me, do it for yourself, do it for little
Jimmy, just do it!
Now THIS is reporting! A San Francisco magazine asked several of the mayoral canidates some question,
that just happened to be from Blade Runner, in an effort to find out
if they were replicants. Doesn't look good for the
citizens of SF.
To further prove the idiom that the only truly secure computer is buriered under 6 feet of concrete, two people posing as
technicians carted away two secure computers in
Sydney. I've also read stories before about people posing as techs who get access to secure computers and just take out a hard drive
and walk away. So all the firewalls and logging in the world can't protect against something like that.

Yep, I'm still alive. It's been a crazy week and I've been in the process of typing this update over the course of this week,
so in reality it's more like the September 13-September 19 update.
Anyways, it's Talk like a Pirate Day! There's a whole long story associated with
that, but the end result is that today is full of ARRRRRR!!'s and Ahoy Matey! Get in touch with your inner pirate.

Career Fair was earlier this week, and so I was out there talking with companies and such. Some of them went really
well, and some not so well, but it's an interesting process throughout. It involves a lot of
dressing up and making resume's. There was more interest than in previous years,
so maybe the economy is recovering after all. If you're looking for a job yourself, here's a handy list
of the worst science related jobs, so you'll
know which one's to stay far, far away from!
Today is a special update to the site, as this one is being done while my internet access is down here in the dorms. Yeah, I suppose
that's what it takes to get an update out of me. It's also about 2:30 in the morning after spending about 40 minutes in the rain
waiting out a fire alarm that someone pulled. Luckly I was just coming back from studying when the first one happened, so I waited
only about 10 minutes and I already had my umbrella and was in full clothes and everything. Then it rang again about 2 minutes
after we got back inside, and this time we were out there for 30. I still had my umbrella thankfully, and considering I"m a
night owl who doesn't have class until 10:40, it was pretty fun! It's always interesting to see all those recluses who never go out
of their room.
I also picked up the latest copy of DDR for the PS2 yesterday. Actually a good friend of mine who has a car did, and she just
brought it over and we played some, along with some guys from my floor. It's got a lot more "real" radio songs than previous mixes
which is really cool, but a lot of the DDR specific songs are pretty bad from older mixes. All in all though it's still a new
DDR game which makes it a must buy. And I still love the "You have DDR in your room?!?!?!" expression when people find out
about it :)
And finally I tried tango dancing for the first time this evening. An Argentina student group started in the spring, and so
this was one of the events they threw. It was a lot of fun, and while we didn't learn too much, it's a very footwork specific dance, though
it's almost like walking to the beat pretty much. A lot of fun though, and as I've said before, there are few things better than
dancing closely with a beautiful woman (and booty/bump'n'grind dancing doesn't count).
At the moment my roommmate has gone missing. I know he has a test early tomorrow morning and was in bed when the fire alarm went off,
but he's nowhere to be found at the moment. Very odd indeed.
I think I've slipped into rambling mode. Well like I said it is 2:30 (Mom: It's really 10:00 am) in the morning and I'm listening to random mp3's from my friend's
computer who I burned for her. At the moment it's Jewel, though she has a lot of other really great stuff too. Ani Difranco, K's Choice, and
a bunch of random mp3's have found their way to my playlist now. I'm almost done sorting through all the one's I like.
I also went to FSU last weekend which was a whole lot of fun. Still gotta say UF >> FSU, but I did get to take this
cool night picture of the fountain on campus (after um, er, getting a bit wet in it)
And just because people get a kick out of it when they see my monitor, here is the picture that is currently my
desktop wallpaper (just scaled down a lot for you people with low resolutions.

Reason #9340394930 why I love college: Free Food at everything! There was free food at the tango thing tonight, at the
ACM meeting two nights ago, and there's almost always something somewhere that you can get free grub at. Ahhhhh
There's a glass cup my best friend gave me with a penguin on it that I keep my spare change in. It's cool. I wonder how much
money I'll have in it when I get it all the way to the top. Here's a picture of it

Alright, I'm getting semi tired now, so I suppose it's time I went to bed (Mom: I'm off to class, since its' 10 in the morning remember?).
I hope you enjoyed my sleep deprived ramblings, as I always seems to get good responses to them the next morning. Which is going
to come way too early.
Where the heck is my roommate?
I think "El Fudge Butterfinger Blasted Sandwhich Cookies" are laced with crack. I really do.
This came about because I took part in the "2003 UF Programming Competition" on Saturday, which well I thought was a lot more
fun then most everyone reading this page thinks it is. It essentially consisted of getting up early (10 am on a saturday is EARLY!)
and after a sample problem and hanging out talking about computers, we sat at a computer to program for 5 straight hours. What a way to spend a
Saturday afternoon! It really was a lot of fun, and while I didn't win or anything (1st place got $500) I did respectable which
is all I was hoping for. Meaning I got 3 out of the 8 problems done (and well half of another one). The winner did 5. It was
trully a site of nerdvana as it was all guys (why oh why girls don't like this stuff still baffles me), with all the coke and
cookies and pizza you can eat. You couldn't ask for a better time! Oh, and getting back to the cookies, they had a lot left over,
so I randomly grabbed them and brought it back to the dorm.
In related news to getting the new DDR game (thanks to Heather!), here's one of the funniest things I've seen in a while,
manual DDR. So cool, so very cool.
I discovered a new quirk about the internet today while mistyping a URL,
nonexistant addresses now get rerouted to a VeriSign webpage
instead of having a browser specific error message pop-up. Apparently it switched a few weeks ago, and not everyone
is happy with it, as it allows for Big Brother type tracking in what sites you might have wanted but didn't get. Not to mention
VeriSign gets all kinds of free publicity and hold a lot of power since I'm sure there are a ton of mistyped addresses that happen
every day.
